Spelling Words
New Spelling Lists are chosen on Mondays. The words for your child to learn are circled. Our whole class works on the skill being introduced together, though we work on individual spelling needs in our Reader's and Writer's Workshop group time. Students are to write these new words in their planners on Mondays, to practice throughout the week at home and in school. Tests are given on Fridays in their Words to Learn Notebook. Students are asked to record the test results (in fraction form) in their planners each week. (This is in the purple section where parents sign daily.) They are then asked to circle the words in their planners that they mispelled and practice them again. I record results on my clipboard.
