| | | Tuesday Newsday in Miss Steward's 1st Grade | |
Tuesdays are Newsdays. This is a school-wide initiative to help
students become global citizens who are aware of the world outside
their own immediate experiences, to explore a variety of news sources,
and to use the PYP Transdisciplinary Skills of thinking, communication,
and research. News can be of a personal nature (this is not
show-and-tell, so, please, no stories about birthday presents or new
toys) or something about their city, state, country, or another part of
the world. News can come from TV, the internet, radio, magazines,
or the newspaper. Bring the article to school, write and/or draw
a picture about it. Be prepared to tell the class the "who",
"what", "where", "when", "why", and "how" of your news.
Each week, one grade level will be featured on a school-wide news
broadcast. At that time, one student from each class will be
videotaped presenting their news story and this video will be broadcast
throughout the school.
