My name is Melissa Rust and I am one of three second grade teachers at Highland Park Elementary this year. I spent most of my life growing up in Minnesota and the surrounding areas. I graduated from the College of St. Catherine with a Bachelors Degree in kindergarten and elementary education. I began my teaching career by subbing in the St. Paul school district. This led to my current position here at Highland. This is my eighth year teaching. I have been teaching second grade for 5 of those years. I am very excited and happy to be back.
I like to spend time up north with my husband Jeff camping or at our lake. I enjoy rock hunting, drawing, and reading (especially Harry Potter--I'm a big fan!).  | | Ms. Rust's Class |
I hope to travel the world someday. This year our beagle, Scooter, passed away. We love and miss him. Though it wasn't planned, we recently had an opportunity to rescue another dog. She needed us and I guess we needed her too. She is sweet and full of energy, as most Jack Russel Terriers are, and her name is Jackie.
