News from the Highland Elementary Media Center! "Check Out" the Library We are having such good experiences in the media center this year! We have NEW books to check out and even more on the way! Many thanks to our generous PTA and our tireless grant writers! The kids get much more excited about the library when both our fiction and our nonfiction sections look contemporary and inviting. We have the same basic guidelines as last year - one book at a time and it isn't due until you're done with it. Of course, we make exceptions for homework and research needs. Every class has created an Essential Agreement for library use, and they are all posted in the library.    Book Lists    Saint Paul Public Library   Award Winning Books for 2007 Announced! The American Library Association (ALA) announced its 2007 children's book awards on January 22, including the biggest children's prizes of the year, the Newbery Medal for literature and the Caldecott Medal for illustration.  This year's winners include the following: The Higher Power of Lucky by Susan Patron - Newbery Medal Flotsam by David Wiesner - Caldecott Medal American Born Chinese by Gene Luen Yang - Printz Award Copper Sun by Sharon Draper - Coretta Scott King Award Book Contest Opportunities!
